The
Centre for Scientific Information and Documentation (CINDOC) of
the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), is a public
organization devoted to encourage quality scientific information
in all fields of knowledge. CINDOC main objectives are (1) to
give documental support to the scientific programming of the CSIC
and Scientific Community, (2) to develop research projects in the
field of Scientific Information and Documentation, (3) to promote
the diffusion of the Spanish scientific output, (4) to put within
every user's reach the scientific information available
worldwide, (5) to train information specialists and users,
encouraging the use of information technologies. Other Services: Introductory and specialized courses and seminars. Training placement for users and information professionals. Library. Document supply. Translation service. Technical advising and consultancy. The CINDOC team is currently developing full scientific documental support for both all CSIC centres and end users – industries, public organizations, universities, etc-, and, for the general public. It owns one of the most important scientific and technical libraries in Spain. CINDOC has an important role in scientific dissemination and communication through the development of specialized internet portals on several subjects. The main database of all scientific bibliography published in Spain is developed also by CINDOC. As auxiliary tools, thesauri, dictionaries, glossaries, etc are also developed. It has as well a solid international reputation in the field of bibliometric studies.
