BENEFITS (pdf)
PROTECTOR
AUTHORITY TEST (pdf)
The
input feed streams are
low value organic and/or inorganic byproducts; such as
high Phosphorous content animal bone meal, and/or other by
products; which can be valorization transformed and processed by
added-value means. The 3R process:
integrated and innovative thermal and biotechnological
methods. ORIGINAL SOLUTION. The output
products are different types of soil biotechnology
specific solid carrier composits and formulated microbiological
fungus and/or bacteria strain consortiums. Depending on the
different soil and climate application scenario conditions,
different types of relevant PROTECTOR products can be made.
PROTECTOR
3 in 1 TRIPLE EFFECTS:
Biological
control: effects against soil borne
plant pathogens, for substitution/significantly lower the input
of agro chemicals.
Plant
growth promotion: for natural support
to produce higher plant yields with better quality and safer
food products.
Natural
N, P, K fertilization: Food crop
mineral deficiency and disturbance stress mitigation in
temperate climatic regions by restoration of soil natural
balance.
APPLICATION
AREAS: horticultural organic and low
input farming
(vegetables, flowers, medicinal and aromatic plants)
COMPETITIVE
ADVANTAGES:
Increased
yields.
Safe
and high quality food for human
consumption with higher levels of: nutrients, vitamin content,
minerals and trace elements (higher dry substance, high BRIX)
and antioxidant content.
Non
detectable levels of diverse heavy metals. Non detectable levels
of pesticides and chemosynthetics.
ECONOMY:
The PROTECTOR is turning trash into
cash, and supporting economically sustainable horticultural
organic farming operations.

The
project’s current relation to the state-of-the-art:
D1
completed: Development of recycling/upgrading strategy for
organic waste streams from the food industry by full chain
follow up (slaughterhouse, bone meal processing, bone char
processing). Optimization of carbonization equipment with 650 kg
bone meal to make different types of ABC, to select most optimal
type.
D2
completed: Food industrial organic waste material and processing
characterization.
D3
completed: Selection of nine best strains from which two highly
efficient microorganisms for Animal Bone Charcoal entrapment for
phosphate mobilization and biocontrol processed.
D4
completed. Design of a targeted ecotoxicological test strategy
for the risk assessment of ABC material.
D7
completed. Laboratory scale optimization of Solid Substrate
Fermentation and Formulation “SSFF” process.
Optimization of the liquid and solid fermentation.
D8
completed: Development of SSFF technology. Manufacturing and
instalation of a 160 litre liquid fermentor test equipments for
product like optimization, scale up and fermentation tests..
D9
completed: Mathematical descriptions of the dissolution kinetics
of the PROTECTOR
D10
completed: Data sets on reactions and turnover of SOM fractions
following the PROTECTOR applications
D11
completed: Data sets on the ability of AMF to transfer P from
soil/PROTECTOR to plants.
D12
completed: Characterisation of microbial biomass and
functionality.
Milestone
1, milestone 2 and milestone 3 successfully reached.
