The
overall goal of the objective driven PROTECTOR project is to
develop, optimize and industrial scale up realize in advanced
engineering terms the integrated thermal inactivation and
biotechnological recycling of high phosphorus containing non-SRM
organic waste (bone meal) and upgrade it into a high added value
and safe biotechnological crop protection and nutrition product
for environmentally friendly vegetable cultivation in soil and
soilless cultivations, all in order to develop
microbiologically adapted soil fertilizer crop nutrient product
with biocontrol by-effect as of EU regulation 91/414 EEC and
USEPA guidelines, including
considerations for project test methodical coherence to authority
product application permit test methodics.
This
IPR protected solution aims to develop microbiologically adapted
soil fertilizer crop nutrient product with biocontrol by-effect
as of EU regulation 91/414 EEC and USEPA guidelines, including
the use of agricultural product application authority permit
field test methodics for development and test of the innovative
PROTECTOR method and product. Milestones 1 and 2, documented with
deliverables have been successfully completed in the first two
years. Milestone 3 by year 3 “modelling of PROTECTOR
Phosphorus dissolution kinetics” successfully completed,
supported and demonstrated the viability and efficiency of the
product, while scientifically described the mode of actions.
Mathematical
description of dissolution kinetics. predictions and process
level explanations
of
agronomic effectiveness of PROTECTOR made in D9. Data sets on
reactions, turnover of SOM fractions following PROTECTOR
application and ability of AMF to transfer P from soil/PROTECTOR
to plants made in D10 and D12, while characterization of
microbial biomass and functionality reported in D12.
22
different types of ABC has been manufactured to optimized bone
char surface characteristics best for microbiological
requirements. ABC SM15 seria has been the most successful and
used for tests. Based
on the past 36 months scientific and technical development of the
project, and the very promising 2006/2007 test results, we may
state that if the 2008 field validation and demonstration tests
in Hungary, Israel and Italy will also be successful, than the
project can be presented as overwhelming success. In Hungary the
field tests will be executed at the Plant and Soil Protection
Authority sites, which project partners independent organization
will provide official statement about the field viability the
PROTECTOR products and methods. Year 4 works are prepared,
including validation, dissemination and market
profilization.
The
prime dissemination strategy is the licensing program, where
those partners who have innovative results from science to
industrialization may act as licensor (primarily P1 in the
specific field of bone carbonization and solid state fermentation
and formulation, where industrial scale up 20,000 t/year capacity
is pre-designed, economical and market feasibility worked out).
It is already clear that the project already containing several
innovative components, which by together or individually, can be
utilized.
